In The Middle Director's Statement

"In the Middle, truthfully came to life for me as soon as I heard the song. It has an infectious “old school” Hip Hop vibe that perfectly mimics the the style of the Bronx native, and artist Sole Rebel. I have always been keen to expression via visual art. I am more familiar with creating fictional works or thick concepts acting like a filter for the audience to look through, however the challenge of taking the ordinary and making it extraordinary, is what made this experience so pivotal to me. Being able to bring this song; a modern day classic like In The Middle to the screen was am amazing experience for me. We decided to get footage of the building where Sole Rebel used to reside, in order for the audience to get a feel for her style and, or roots. The videographer and I worked together to capture moments that we felt would portray a sort of friendship or intimacy with Sole Rebel. We wanted the video to portray the Bronx as it exists to the artist and portray an area that is every evolving before it becomes something else."
